Happy Wordy Wednesday!
“Coffee please!”
-Mary S.
This is something my mom always says whenever she wants a cup of coffee.
I think it’s safe to say that coffee flows like water in our house.
I remember the first time I ever drank coffee. It was the summer of 4th grade in Palm Desert. My best friend in Elementary school’s grandmother gave me a little coffee with a whole lot of milk. I thought it was delicious!
I tried to get that same taste at a car repair place but I was disappointed when all the sugar and cream didn’t mask the taste. (Probably a good thing.)
Fast forward many years later when I was more of a causal coffee drinker. I’d usually get an iced coffee when I went to Starbucks my Senior Year of High School.
And then college happened. And you can guess where it went from there.
I definitely do not drink as much coffee as I used to when I was in school. (My friends now let me know when they’re hooked on Starbucks and I love it!)
I honestly drink it more for comfort than needing it to stay awake. I do have a cup most days when I do my devotions. I’ll usually sip on it throughout the day.
My typical cup of coffee consists of black coffee with cinnamon. Super plain and simple.
I know some people detest the taste of just plain black coffee. I did too at first, but you get used to it after a while. Honestly, I thoroughly enjoy the taste. Sometimes I will add almond milk or coconut creamer but that’s pretty much it.
To me coffee is home. Coffee is something I connect with my parents on.
My “Coffee Talks'' with my mom are my favorite. We just talk while drinking our hot freshly brewed cup of coffee.
What’s a drink that reminds you of home?
