People are driven by a variety of different reasons. Some reasons are external: money, status, etc. Some reasons are internal; growth, success, etc.
Others of us are driven by a cute little word called “passion”.
Passion has been what’s been driving me for as long as I can remember. My passion for animals led me to want to be a veterinarian for a while until I learned what the job actually entailed. Actually, in all honesty, in my biology class in college, we had to dissect a shark, and the smell tainted my job aspiration.
However, one passion of mine that has never really seemed to cease and leave my mind completely, is my passion for acting. Unlike the passion I had previously that was so easily skewed away by a simple smell, this one has not gone away through the tears, rejection, and doubts. The abundance of joy I feel from getting to know the ins and outs of a character and getting to experience life through their eyes overrides all the pain and angst that comes from the nature of this career. Of course, there are many more reasons why I am passionate about this. Being able to tell untold stories, connecting with other human beings, embracing the beauty and awkwardness that comes with being a human. An escape from your own reality.
Never let your fears override what you are truly passionate about.
